Refresh was created in 2007 to cover the fast-growing health and wellness segment. The blog focused on supermarket retailers, as well as issues that affected them, ranging from organic regulations and gluten-free merchandising, to the obesity epidemic and in-store clinics.
The articles were written primarily by SN editors, as well as industry experts in the areas of nutrition, private label, packaging, category management and law. The goal of these pieces was to shine more light on categories that many in the food industry considered to be niche.
Like anything else, what starts out as a specialty ends up in the mainstream, and whole health products and services are no exception. After several years and hundreds of posts, SN editors made the decision in 2013 to transition coverage of health and wellness from a stand-alone Refresh blog (and print supplement) to the regular pages of SN.
All content from Refresh has been archived and will appear in all searches, listed as blog posts.
