Albertsons Acquires First Store in Decade

FULLERTON, Calif. — Albertsons here said it plans to lease a former Scolari's location in Central California — the first time it will acquire a lease from another company in more than 10 years, a spokeswoman told SN.

The 30,000-square-foot store — in San Luis Obispo — will undergo a complete remodel in the spring and reopen under the Albertsons banner next summer, she said.

The announcement of the lease comes just weeks after Albertsons' corporate parent, Minneapolis-based Supervalu, disclosed plans to close 19 stores in Southern California by the end of November.

The San Luis Obispo store is one of four that Scolari's Food & Drug Co., Sparks, Nev., closed at mid-year when it exited California to concentrate on its stores in Northern Nevada.

Half of the towns population are students , they are only here about 8 months a year,
Did I mention that this town has a very limited growth plan, you can not just build here, commercial or private houses, therefore there is no growth.
