Buehler’s to Acquire Portage Lakes IGA

WOOSTER, Ohio — Buehler’s Fresh Foods here said Friday that it has reached an agreement to acquire Portage Lakes IGA, an independently owned supermarket in Akron, Ohio.

Buehler’s officials said the deal is expected to close in July. A purchase price was not disclosed.

"Our focus is on customers and the assurance that they continue to receive the same service and products they have come to expect at Portage Lakes IGA," Bob Buehler, vice president of marketing and merchandising for Buehler’s, said in a statement.

Bill Anthony, owner of Portage Lakes IGA, said customers would see no changes in the store’s hours or offerings while the sale of the store to Buehler’s is being finalized.

Buehler’s Fresh Foods is owned and operated by Wooster-based E&H Family Group, operator of 13 Buehler’s food stores and nine Ace hardware stores in Ohio.
