SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Services were held here last month for grocery industry veteran Burton Weinbaum, 77, who died Dec. 15. Weinbaum spent his entire 40-year career in the grocery industry, which he said was both his business and his hobby. He began his career at Stop & Shop in 1957, rising from management trainee to general manager of the Connecticut Division. He later was a regional president at A&P, and then was special assistant to the chairman of the board until his retirement in 1997. Weinbaum dedicated himself to many charitable causes and food industry organizations and was named the 1975 Connecticut Food Stores Association Man of the Year.
