EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here said it is partnering with American Forests to plant 1,000 trees on behalf of its customers. The partnership began after the holidays, when Fresh & Easy encouraged employees and customers to donate holiday cards for recycling. Proceeds from the recycled cards went to American Forests, which said it will plant a tree for every dollar raised. According to Tim Mason, chief executive officer of Fresh & Easy, "Being a good neighbor and steward of the environment is important to us. The holiday card recycling program demonstrates small actions can make a big difference." American Forests, based in Washington D.C., is involved with planting trees for environmental restoration and urban forestry. With 1.1 million acres of national forest in need of restoration last year and with increased intensity in wildfires, "the need for restoration tree-planting is even greater this year," Greg Meyer, vice president, marketing and development, for American Forests said.
