H-E-B Opens 2nd Joe V's Store

SAN ANTONIO — H.E. Butt Grocery on Wednesday opened the second location of its new discount grocery concept, Joe V's Smart Shop, in Houston. H.E. Butt opened the first such location, also in Houston, in May.

The store carries a limited selection of items, and advertises "outrageously low prices" including "while supplies last" deals on non-food items like appliances and kitchen items.

The new store, located near San Jacinto College in East Houston, is offering Mexican-style bolillo bread, tortillas, pastries and cakes, according to a Houston Chronicle report.

The company said it was searching throughout the Houston area for additional locations.
