Hy-Vee, H-E-B Score in Phone-Response Ranking

CHICAGO – Hy-Vee, H-E-B and Save Mart ranked in the top five retailers with the fastest responses to phone calls to their corporate headquarters, according to a study by call manager Ifbyphone here.

The study tested 100 retailers to determine the amount of time it takes for customers to follow their corporate phone system until they were able to conduct a live conversation. Hy-Vee ranked second overall in this ranking at 10.2 seconds, H-E-B was fourth at 12.4 seconds, and Save Mart scored fifth fastest at 17.3 seconds.

Home improvement chain Menard’s scored fastest at 9 seconds. Raley’s (20.5 seconds, 7th), Winco (8th at 25.4 seconds) and Supervalu (10th in 28.4 seconds) also finished in the top 10.

Supermarket retailers Stater Bros. (four minutes, 11 seconds) and Safeway (five minutes, 37 seconds) were among the slowest responders, the study said. The average response time was one minute and 42 seconds.
