SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Grocers Association here said Jill Rulon has been named interim president and chief executive officer following the formal resignation last week of Peter Larkin. Larkin, who held the titles since 1997, plans to start his own consulting firm. Rulon, 41, joined CGA at the same time as Larkin after working at Food Marketing Institute for six years as director of state and government relations — her only industry job before moving West. As senior vice president at CGA, Rulon said she was the association's No. 2 executive, with oversight for everything except government relations, including administration, communications, marketing, membership and education. A CGA spokesman said the association has hired a search firm to seek a permanent successor to Larkin. He said that firm is expected to offer several names to CGA's board at its next meeting, scheduled for March 11, after which the board is expected to choose a successor. Rulon is scheduled to serve as interim top executive until that successor takes over.
