Kroger to Close Five Indiana Stores

Kroger Co. said Friday it plans to close four of the Scott’s Food & Pharmacy stores in northeastern Indiana that it recently acquired, plus one additional Kroger location in the region.

CINCINNATI — Kroger Co. here said Friday it plans to close four of the Scott’s Food & Pharmacy stores in northeastern Indiana that it recently acquired, plus one additional Kroger location in the region. As previously reported, Kroger acquired 18 Scott’s stores from Minneapolis-based Supervalu in April for an undisclosed sum. The stores to be closed include Scott’s locations in Auburn, Columbia City, Rochester and New Haven; the Kroger to be closed is in Fort Wayne, where Scott’s is based. Closings are scheduled for Aug. 4. Kroger previously said it would retain the Scott’s banner on the remaining stores. It continues to operate 27 stores in the market under the Kroger, Scott’s and Owens names.
