Kroger Co. said Tuesday it has promoted Dennis Gibson to president of its QFC division, based in Seattle. He succeeds Joe Fey, who in January was named president of Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic division.

Gibson, 58, most recently had been VP of merchandising in Kroger’s Columbus division. He began his career in 1976 with Grand Central discount department stores in Salt Lake City, and joined Fred Meyer in 1984, where he worked for the next 27 years in roles including store and district management, regional director and group VP for store operations. In 2011, Gibson was named VP of operations in Kroger's Columbus division, and in 2013 he was named to his most recent post.
