ARLINGTON, Va. — Food Marketing Institute here recently recognized Barbara McConnell, left, president of Food Industry Association Executives, with an award of excellence for her leadership in promoting the food industry through the strength of state associations. Leslie G. Sarasin, FMI president and chief executive officer, presented the award to McConnell at FIAE's annual convention. “Barbara has worked tirelessly to make sure the state associations are kept up-to-date and are well-informed about the industry's most pressing issues,” said Sarasin. McConnell, a former state legislator in New Jersey, previously announced her plans to retire from FIAE in 2010.
