RCPS Flies Pyramid Banner in Oklahoma

RCPS unveiled a new store banner, Food Pyramid, for nine Albertsons stores it purchased earlier this year in the Tulsa, Okla., region.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — RCPS here this week unveiled a new store banner, Food Pyramid, for nine Albertsons stores it purchased earlier this year in the Tulsa, Okla., region. Six of the stores debuted the new logo Wednesday, and the remaining three are set to open today, RPCS said. Along with a new name and logo, the stores feature lower prices on more than 10,000 items. Owners are associating the new name with USDA’s daily food “pyramid” recommendations to encourage healthy eating. The stores are scheduled to add Starbucks coffee cafes, sushi bars and expanded fresh and prepared foods, according to Erick Taylor, president and chief executive officer of RPCS, which operates 42 stores in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma under the Ramey, Price Cutter, Price Cutter Plus and Smitty’s names. The stores are supplied by Associated Wholesale Grocers, Kansas City, Kan.
