ShopRite Event Draws Crowd in Philly

PHILADELPHIA — More than 1,000 people attended an event here last week previewing a new ShopRite store being built in the Hunting Park neighborhood.

Jeff Brown, president of Brown’s Super Stores, pledged to hire local residents to fill an expected 300 jobs at the 71,000-square-foot ShopRite store, which is set to open this summer. The project is an anchor tenant at Bakers Centre, a new shopping complex being built at the site of a former Tastykake plant near North Philadelphia.

Brown said the store would include a halal butcher, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and an open-hearth chicken roaster. Community amenities at the new store include meeting rooms, a health clinic and an in-store dietician.

Jeff Brown could be a national television personality if he wished, with his passion for promoting the BEST food at honest pricing and helping folks in urban neighborhoods that most retailers have virtually written off. But, Jeff will probably continue to be just a food retailer, and make a lot of people feel better about themselves with JOBS and healthier AFFORDABLE food!

The neighborhood is Hunting Park, not Hunter's Park.

Thriftway 22 & Leigh will probably close after that beautiful Shop Rite opens.
Good Bye to the McFalls.
