MONTREAL — The organizers of SIAL Montréal said its food and beverage exhibition, held every other year here since 2001, will move to an annual event, allowing exhibitors and visitors to stay abreast of fast-moving market trends and business opportunities. Next year's event will take place on April 23-25 in Montreal’s Palais des Congrès convention center. This year's exhibition, March 28-30, drew over 13,000 visitors (calculated as the number of times visitors passed through the show entrance) and 608 exhibitors. Although the number of total visitors did not increase from 2005, there was a 64% increase in visitors coming from the United States and a 30% increase in visitors coming from outside of Canada as compared to the former edition of the show, said SIAL officials. According to the CROP survey conducted during the show, there was a noticeable gain in the quality of contacts made at the show: 97% of visitors and 85% of exhibitors said they were very or fairly satisfied with their participation; 75.5% of visitors were decision-makers or influencers; and 69% of visitors stayed one day or more at SIAL Montréal.
