Penton Media, parent company of Supermarket News, has formed a new Food Group that will include SN and Penton's Baking Group. The latter includes the publications Modern Baking and Baking Management, along with their websites, newsletters and Healthy Baking Seminars.

The new unit will be overseen by Jerry Rymont, publisher of SN, who had earlier been group publisher of the bakery properties. David Orgel, SN editor-in-chief, will be in charge of content across the Food Group. Heather Henstock, the Baking Group editorial director, will report to Orgel. Erin Fitzgerald, SN's marketing manager, has been named integrated marketing director for the Food Group. Both Orgel and Fitzgerald will continue to report to Rymont.

All publications and websites will continue to be operated by their respective staffs.

The new structure enables synergies and a bigger scale to better serve readers and customers.

“Jerry has done a tremendous job since taking over the leadership of Supermarket News early last year,” said Dan Bagan, Penton senior vice president, who heads the company's Agriculture, Food and Marketing Group, which includes the new Food Group unit. “His leadership and experience in the bakery business will be invaluable in directing the new larger group.”
