Sprouts Sets 2 More Sunflower Openings

PHOENIX — Although the merger of Sunflower Farmers Market into Sprouts Farmers Market was completed late last month, Sprouts said two stores opening in San Jose, Calif., will operate under the Sunflower name "due to sign ordinances and building permits."

One of the stores is scheduled to open Wednesday; the other is set to open July 18. In the coming months, the company said, both will be rebranded as Sprouts, "with a new name on the front, a new look inside but the same friendly staff and remarkably low pricing you will come to know and love," a company spokeswoman said.

The combined company will operate 146 stores, including the two San Jose locations, with four more units scheduled to open this year. The company told SN earlier the re-branding of stores will begin in July and continue through the end of the year.
