WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, who has a retail grocery background, was a surprise guest during the GMA/FPA Chairman's Reception during the organization's annual Executive Conference here last week. He urged consumer products companies to consider relocating their facilities to West Virginia, saying the state is eager to be partners in building new business. The governor changed the state motto on highway signs from “Wild and Wonderful” to “Open For Business.” There was lots of chatter on environmental issues at this year's meeting as executives enjoyed the green of the Allegheny Mountains surrounding the Greenbrier Valley.
