MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu here yesterday said it has named Sue Klug president of its Southern California division. She had been senior vice president, sales and marketing, for the Retail West region. Pete Van Helden, who had been both president of Southern and executive vice president, Retail West, will focus on overseeing the Retail West region. In a prepared statement, Supervalu noted that Klug had been responsible for several initiatives in Southern California since Supervalu acquired the Albertsons stores there last year, including the re-launch of the Lucky banner in that market. Before the acquisition, Klug had been senior vice president, sales and merchandising, for Albertsons’ California Division. She previously held executive positions with Safeway, including senior vice president of marketing for that company’s Vons banner in Southern California.
