LOS ANGELES — Unified Grocers here last week said it has been approved as a distributor to IGA stores in its area. As a member of the IGA Alliance, Unified has the right to supply grocery products to independent retailers bearing the IGA banner and to offer other independents the chance to convert to the IGA system. "Becoming a member of IGA provides us with a tremendous opportunity," said Dan Murphy, senior vice president, perishables and retail services, Unified. "We believe that there are a number of independent retailers throughout our marketing territory that would like to become IGA stores."
