Wakefern Identifies Stop & Shop Buyers

Wakefern Food Corp. on Friday disclosed the list of its individual members who are buying 10 Stop & Shop locations in New Jersey and New York as part of a previously announced deal between the cooperative wholesaler and Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop.

ELIZABETH, N.J. — Wakefern Food Corp. on Friday disclosed the list of its individual members who are buying 10 Stop & Shop locations in New Jersey and New York as part of a previously announced deal between the cooperative wholesaler and Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop. Supermarkets of Cherry Hill, N.J., is buying three of the stores, two of which are in Cherry Hill and the other in Mt. Laurel; Eickhoff Supermarkets is buying another Mt. Laurel location; Zallie Supermarkets is buying two stores, located in Sicklerville and Laurel Springs; Ammons Supermarkets is buying a store in Mullica Hill; and, as previously reported, Village Super Markets is buying a store in Galloway. The store in Middletown, N.Y., is being acquired by Wakefern’s corporate ShopRite Supermarkets division as a replacement store. The stores are expected to close July 31 and later reopen as ShopRites. The store in Rio Grande, N.J., is expected to close permanently as a supermarket.
