Wal-Mart Cuts Prices on 15,000 Items

Wal-Mart Stores said Thursday that it reduced prices of 15,000 items this week, an increase of 20% over last year.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here said Thursday that it reduced prices of 15,000 items this week, an increase of 20% over last year. The reductions — in apparel, electronics, food and other departments — come in addition to aggressive price cuts in toys the company announced earlier this month, the retailer said. “These rollbacks are just the start of special values we’ll unveil now through December to remind people our prices will remain unbeatable and you will save money on great products here,” Bill Simon, chief operating officer, said in a statement.
