Wal-Mart Does Well in Rating of Online Customer Respect

Wal-Mart Stores scored a 6.8 on a 10-point Customer Respect Index scale compiled for the fourth quarter of 2007 by the Customer Respect Group, a research and consulting firm that focuses on how corporations treat their online customers.

IPSWICH, Mass. — Wal-Mart Stores scored a 6.8 on a 10-point Customer Respect Index scale compiled for the fourth quarter of 2007 by the Customer Respect Group here, a research and consulting firm that focuses on how corporations treat their online customers. Wal-Mart led other online food retail companies, including Target (6.5), Peapod (5.8) and Safeway (4.8). Overstock.com topped the retail list at 7.4. The average CRI rating for the retail industry was 6.1, which represented a slight improvement from 2006. Retail led all industries reviewed in 2007, helped by enhanced self-service facilities and the availability of real-time answers to customer queries.
