Aldi said Monday it will break ground May 1 on a new 650,000-square-foot distribution center and division headquarters in Rosenberg, Texas, a Houston suburb.
The distribution center and offices are scheduled to open in early 2016. Aldi, whose U.S. arm is headquartered in Batavia, Ill., also said it will open its 17th Houston-area store the same day.
The company, which entered the Houston market in early 2013, said it expects to operate 30 stores there by the end of 2015. “Rising demand for Aldi is fueling our significant expansion, including the Houston area,” Karla Waddleton, Rosenberg division VP, said.
Aldi said earlier this year it plans to open 650 new stores across the nation over the next five years.
