KEENE, N.H. — C&S Wholesale Grocers has alerted Pennsylvania officials to the likely closure of a warehouse in DuBois, Pa., following Target’s move to distribute its own groceries.
Target accounts for roughly half the business at the facility, known as DuBois Logistics, according to Tony Helfer, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 23, which represents workers at the facility. Target is expected to commence self-distributing to stores serviced currently by DuBois Logistics early next year.

According to the WARN notice, the facility would close between Feb. 23 and March 8. Helfer told SN Monday that the union was meeting with C&S officials to determine whether the distributor could move additional volume to the DuBois facility to keep the plant open.
Burt P. Flickinger III, managing director of Strategic Resource Group, New York, told SN Monday he expects Target’s gradual move to distribute its own groceries could affect as many as three additional outsourced facilities in 2014.
