Gordy’s County Market, Chippewa Falls, Wis., said Thursday it has purchased three Our Town Fresh Markets, giving it a total of 16 stores.
Gordy’s said it will retain all current employees and will begin operating the stores Oct. 20. The stores are located in Arcadia, Galesville and La Crosse, Wis.
Our Town Fresh Markets are being sold by the Hegenbarth Food Group, Galesville, Wis.
According to owner Dave Hegenbarth, “We are filled with a mix of emotions today. We are pleased to be selling to Gordy’s because they are family owned and they take care of their employees, customer and communities — standards we value and take pride in. We know Gordy’s will bring a renewed energy and passion to these stores that will benefit everyone.”
Jeff Schafer, president of Gordy’s, said, “Going from 13 to 16 stores in a matter of months is a challenge, but it excites us to bring our philosophy and culture to [the three communities]. We look forward to meeting new customers and showing them who were are, serving them well and offering them quality products at a price they’ll love.”
The 13 Gordy’s stores include a mix of supermarkets and gas stations.
