Judge approves sales in Dahl’s bankruptcy: Report

A federal bankruptcy court judge on Friday approved the sale of Dahl’s Foods assets to retailers Kum & Go, Hy-Vee and Associated Wholesale Grocers, according to local reports.

Dahl’s, a Des Moines, Iowa-based supermarket chain, filed for Chapter 11 protection in November with a “stalking horse” acquisition bid from supplier and lead creditor AWG.

On Friday, a judge approved the sale of pharmacy records of three stores that are to close to Hy-Vee, while convenience store chain Kum & Go was approved as the buyer for one closing location and its store equipment. AWG was approved as the buyer for the remaining six stores, which are still operating, according to KCCI news. AWG in court papers said it intended to have member companies operate those stores under a new banner.
