ARLINGTON, Va. — National Grocers Association here said Thursday it has launched an online political action center that will seek to connect independent grocers with their legislators.
The new website — www.GrocersTakeAction.org — also will integrate NGA’s grassroots efforts with its Political Action Committee, the NGA Grocers PAC.
"The independent grocery channel plays a significant role in the nation's economy through the generation of billions in sales and the creation of reliable jobs,” said NGA president and CEO Peter J. Larkin. “Legislators and policymakers make decisions that impact our businesses on almost a daily basis, and it is critical that our industry is active and unified in the political process to ensure our interests are well represented."
The new NGA Political Action Center will seek to educate and involve independent grocers in the political process through action alerts on industry issues, legislative scorecards, and up-to-date election information on candidates nationwide.
