United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500 said it would assemble in front of the Mt. Kisco, N.Y., Mrs. Green’s location at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Local 1500, based in Westbury, N.Y., has said nine workers dismissed in January had all been a part of a group that unsuccessfully petitioned to organize workers at the retailer.

Mrs. Greens offcials did not return calls for comment but in social media messages said employee attitudes towards unionization were a not a factor in their dismissal.

“The decision to release certain associates, as well as certain members of management, was based upon the store’s continuing declining performance, unsatisfactory customer feedback and comprehensive individual performance assessments,” the retailer said.

An organizing effort at the store fell short by three votes last year, reports said.
