The discount food chain Xpect Discounts has told state labor authorities in Connecticut that it would closing its final three locations in the state by April 1.
Xpect is a division of Cleveland-based Marc Glassman Inc., which operates 60 discount food stores under the Marc's banner in Ohio.
The company filed plans to lay off 178 workers at its stores in Milford, Cromwell and East Haven, Conn., in a WARN notice filed late last week. The closings were expected. According to published reports, Xpect a year ago announced plans for a gradual pullout from the state.
