Fresh & Easy to Recycle Holiday Cheer
Dec 28, 2007 8:00 AM
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here is collecting used holiday cards as part of its new recycling program. Through the end of January the retailer will collect the cards from shoppers in drop-off boxes located at the front of each of its 27 locations. The cards will be recycled and proceeds from their sale will benefit American Forests, a nonprofit organization that focuses on planting trees in restoration areas throughout the country. A single tree will be planted for every dollar donated. “We want to make it easier for customers to make more environmentally friendly decisions,” said Tim Mason, Fresh & Easy’s chief executive officer, in a statement. “If everyone in the neighborhood brings their holiday cards back to our stores to be recycled, we can make a big difference.”
