Court Says Gristedes Owes Overtime: Report

NEW YORK — A U.S. District judge here ruled that Gristedes violated federal and state labor laws by failing to pay overtime wages to around 400 workers, reports said. The workers, who filed suit in a class action against the retailer four years ago, are seeking $15 million in back pay for salaried workers and about $10 million in back pay for hourly workers, according to a report in Crain’s New York Business. A Gristedes spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
