Hawaiian Airline Shutdown Stalls Deliveries

HONOLULU — The abrupt shutdown by Aloha Airlines of its cargo operations Monday left shippers of perishables goods to other islands scurrying for alternative delivery sources. Affected items include fresh produce and cut flowers; fresh seafood; fresh bread and other baked goods; and dairy products. According to local reports, some shippers had made contingency plans when Aloha filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March; however, when Aloha closed down its cargo operations without any advance notice, shippers had to find alternative shipping methods very quickly, published reports said.
