Holiday Spending Down: Reports

Retailers’ sales rose just 2.4%, excluding gasoline, during the period between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, according to a report released this week by SpendingPulse, which uses data from MasterCard Advisors. Including gasoline, sales were up 3.6% over year-ago results, the weakest performance in four years. SpendingPulse had projected sales to rise 3.5%-4%.
