CHICAGO — IGA here said yesterday it plans to hold its first U.S.-specific retailer meeting in more than a decade Nov. 6-8. Called the IGA USA Rally, the event is scheduled to take place in Merrillville, Ind., 45 minutes outside Chicago, which was selected because it is so centrally located to allow for the largest potential attendance of IGA retailers, Mark Batenic, IGA USA chairman, president and chief executive officer, said. According to Batenic, the rally agenda will include a discussion of how to advance the IGA brand; a sharing of strategies for 2009; and an Awards of Excellence ceremony to celebrate member accomplishments through the year.
