Loblaw: No Changes in Top Management

TORONTO — Loblaw Cos. here said last week it plans no changes in its top management, after a recent report indicated that the current team could be broken up. “We've got a great team, and we plan to be together for some time,” said Mark Foote, president and chief merchandising officer, in a presentation at the CIBC World Markets Retail Conference here. Perry Caicco, an analyst with CIBC who had previously speculated that the management team of Foote, Executive Chairman Galen G. Weston and Deputy Chairman Allan Leighton could be dissolved as the company, Canada's largest supermarket operator, struggles to regain sales and profitability growth. “The company plans no change to the management structure, and Mark Foote indicated that he will be staying with the company, which is certainly a comfort to investors,” Caicco said in a report following the conference.
