MONTREAL — Six stores currently operating under the Dominion banner in Ontario will reopen under the Metro banner next week, kicking off Metro Inc.’s 15-month program of consolidating its Ontario conventional stores under a single brand. Metro will continue converting stores at the rate of five or six per week through December and expects to have converted all stores under the Dominion, The Barn and Ultra banners by year-end, said Eric LaFleche, president and chief executive officer of Metro, speaking at the Scotia Capital Back to School conference this week in Toronto. Metro next year will work to change over its stores under Loeb and A&P banners, he added. LaFleche said the conversions will accompany merchandising and product assortment improvements along with a new advertising slogan — “Food at its Best” — also set to launch next week.
