CHESHUNT, England — Tesco here is scouting for potential supermarket sites in Russia, according to a report on Friday. The retailer, which operates most of its stores in the U.K. but also has stores in 11 other countries, has been meeting with local real estate brokers in Russia to find suitable locations, the Bloomberg news service reported. Tesco, which expanded into China in 2006 and debuted in the U.S. last year, has previously confirmed it was looking into possible expansion in India, but has neither confirmed nor denied previous speculation about potential expansion into Russia. Tesco could not be reached for comment on Friday about the latest report.
