Unions, Loblaw Reach Tentative Deals; One Local Signs

TORONTO — One local union in Western Canada settled with Loblaw while two others are scheduled to vote on tentative contract settlements, United Food and Commercial Workers Canada said. In Winnipeg, members of UFCW Local 832 working at Loblaw’s Superstore and Extra Foods locations voted to approve a new five-year contract Sunday. Local 1400 in Saskatchewan and Local 401 in Alberta separately reached tentative agreements with Loblaw and were scheduling ratification votes. The tentative agreements helped avoid job walkoffs scheduled for the weekend.
