Supermarket Workers Plan Rally in Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. — Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 have scheduled a rally here today to raise awareness as contract negotiations with Safeway, Supervalu and Kroger resume. The union, representing 1,200 grocery and meat workers in the Eugene/Springfield area employed by Kroger (Fred Meyer), Supervalu (Albertsons) and Safeway have been in negotiations for a new contract since February of 2007.
