Grocery Outlet Expedites Recall

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market recently processed a recall from one of its suppliers at more than 150 locations, resulting in a completion rate for notification, response and documentation of less than two hours.

BERKELEY, Calif. — Grocery Outlet Bargain Market here, a group of independently operated food stores in six western states, recently processed a recall from one of its suppliers at more than 150 locations, resulting in a completion rate for notification, response and documentation of less than two hours.

The recall was managed via a web-based recall-and-withdrawal system provided by Recall InfoLink, Boise, Idaho. The system is designed to remove up to 80% of the labor required in recalls, while providing documentation to help meet business and compliance needs.

“The Recall InfoLink system works faster and smoother than anything we’ve ever done before,” said S. MacGregor Read Jr., Grocery Outlet’s co-chief executive officer, in a statement. “We solve several business functions while protecting our consumers and documenting our store responses.”
