NASFT Announces Outstanding Specialty Food Retailers of 2007

The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade and its Specialty Food Magazine announced the members of its Outstanding Specialty Food Retailers of 2007 list yesterday.

NEW YORK — The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade and its Specialty Food Magazine announced the members of its Outstanding Specialty Food Retailers of 2007 list here yesterday. Dorothy Lane Market, Central Market, Fairway Market, Pastoral, Sickles Market and Liberty Heights Fresh have been named to this year’s list. “The winners are the definition of a successful specialty food store: They provide excellent customer service, introduce their communities to products not found in mainstream grocery stores, and strive to stock the highest-quality, exclusive products that are not mass-produced,” said the NASFT, in a statement. To identify candidates for the list, the NASFT asked its 2,500 supplier members to name retailers they admired. Those named the most were asked to submit entries, which included photographs, store facts, articles, menus, newsletters and letters from customers. The information was evaluated by a panel consisting of former winners from the Outstanding Specialty Food Retailers list, manufacturers, distributors and journalists, and the panel then chose this year’s winners.
