Gallery: 'Next generation’ of Alfalfa’s

Alfalfa’s last week opened what officials called a “next generation” store in Louisville, Colo., reflecting the brand’s design and its high product standards.

The store is the second since the founders of the original Alfalfa’s chain — sold to Wild Oats Markets in 1996 — relaunched the brand in Boulder, Colo., in 2011.

The store was built from the ground up at the newly developed Center Court Village shopping center in response to stroing support from the Lousville community.

“The commuter traffic on South Boulder Road, growth in population in Louisville, void in specialty natural and organic retail in the community, and a thriving Main Street attracted us to this location,” Mark Retzloff, co-founder and chairman of Alfalfa’s, said in a statement. “We received more than 600 alfalfa seed-filled letters from Louisville residents asking us to open a store here, and we’ve taken extra care in the store design and layout to bring this community the best in local, natural and organic products retailing.”
