WASHINGTON — Sales of eco-friendly products have increased 60% in the past two years, according to a Food Marketing Institute report on “green” shopping behavior. Highlights of the report, complied by Catalina Marketing, will be made available on FMI’s website next month as part of a raft of sustainability resources FMI unveiled yesterday in conjunction with a meeting of its new Sustainability Task Force. Other resources include a PowerPoint presentation on the importance of sustainability; a “sustainability starter kit” to be released at the 2008 FMI Midwinter Executive Conference in January; and additional consumer research and planned conference presentations. FMI also said it has scheduled its first Sustainability Summit for next June 16-19 in Minneapolis.
