Post Foods is rolling out new packaging for its original Grape-Nuts cereal that bears the Non-GMO Project Verified seal.

Post Grape Nuts no GMOs.

“We've confirmed that our recipe and suppliers do not contain GMO ingredients, and the Non-GMO Project seal will appear on boxes of Grape-Nuts Original on store shelves," Mangala D'Sa, brand director for Grape-Nuts, told SN.

D’Sa added: “Grape-Nuts Original still contains the signature crunch, ingredients, and 49g of whole grains known and loved for more than a century."

Post declined to comment when asked if the verification comes as a result of a recipe or ingredient sourcing change. GMO Inside, a national consumer campaign of Green America that educates consumers about GMOs, hailed the news, saying it’s another victory for the non-GMO movement.

The Grape-Nuts verification comes on the heals of General Mills’ announcement that it has cut genetically modified ingredients from original Cheerios. The formula for original Cheerios remains the same, but General Mills made sourcing and plant handling changes in to ensure that the corn starch for original Cheerios comes only from non-GMO corn, and sugar is only non-GMO pure cane sugar, the company said.
