LONDON -- Tesco here said it would convert its fleet of 2,000 trucks in the United Kingdom to run on biodeisel to help protect the environment, according to reports. The chain, which is making plans to enter the U.S. next year, said it would use a mix called B50, which uses a 50% mixture of traditional diesel fuel with a fuel made from crops. “This issue is growing in importance to consumers, and we have got to respond,” said Terry Leahy, Tesco‘s chief executive officer, in a report in The Times of London. The implementation begins next month.
