DAYVILLE, Conn. — Specialty-products distributor United Natural Foods, based here, last week held a dedication ceremony for what it describes as the largest solar-electric system in New England. The system, installed at the company’s distribution center here, is expected to generate about 600,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, the company said. The 550-kW system from Schott Solar will help avoid the production of more than 14 million pounds of carbon dioxide over its anticipated 25-year lifespan. In October, United installed a 1-megawatt solar-electric system at its warehouse in Rocklin, Calif.
