NEW YORK – SN announced today the winners of the 2012 Sustainability Excellence Awards: Sobeys, chain category; Unified Grocers, wholesaler category; and Kudrinko’s, independent category.
SN will be presenting the awards today to Rod Peterson, procurement manager - national procurement, Sobeys; and Neil Kudrinko, owner, Kudrinko’s, at the Food Marketing Institute’s Energy & Store Development Conference in Phoenix. SN will present the award to Unified Grocers at its headquarters at a later date.
SN’s Sustainability Excellence Awards program, now its fifth year, recognizes a chain, wholesaler and independent that have set a high standard for sustainability in such areas as energy management, refrigeration, waste management and sourcing. SN editors select the winners based on nominations and recent accomplishments. This year’s program was sponsored by Fleet Advantage.
Profiles of the winning companies’ sustainability programs appear in the Sept. 10, 2012, issue of SN, and will be featured at supermarketnews.com this week.
