ORLANDO, Fla — SN presented 2008 Sustainability Excellence Awards at the Food Marketing Institute's Energy & Technical Services Conference here last week.
Accepting for Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., which won in the chain category, was Rob Uhl, its senior refrigeration engineer, corporate construction and design. Peter Stoyan, Southeast director of sales, Eastern Region, for United Natural Foods, Dayville, Conn., accepted for his company, which won in the wholesaler category.
Seattle-based PCC Natural Markets, which wasn't represented at the conference, was the winner in the independent category.
