Jan 28, 2008 6:00 AM, By MICHAEL GARRY
NEW YORK — Less than half (46%) of the respondents to SN’s latest Technology Survey said their company is able to trace a tainted product back in the supply chain. Another 20% said this capability was under consideration. The survey was sent to retailers and wholesalers last November, with 84 companies responding. The survey, covering a wide range of technology-based applications employed by food retailers and wholesalers, formed the basis of SN’s 14th annual State of the Industry Report on Supermarket Technology, which appears in the Jan. 28 issue of SN. In other findings, 63% of survey respondents said that they were in compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security requirements. Among high-priority applications for 2008, 38% of respondents selected data warehousing, the most for any application.
