Sen. Specter Addresses Interchange Issue at Giant Food Store
CAMP HILL, Pa. -- In a visit to a Giant Food Store here yesterday, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) heard directly from shoppers and Giant Chief Executive Officer Carl Schlicker about the impact of credit card interchange fees. Last year Specter held a hearing on interchange fees and found what he later called a "disturbing pattern of anticompetitive conduct by credit card companies." John Motley, senior vice president of government and public affairs, Food Marketing Institute said FMI is "pleased that Sen. Specter is taking time to look at this problem firsthand and talk directly with the people who have to pay the bill. We hope Sen. Specter and his colleagues will keep up the pressure on the big credit card companies and force them to do the right thing for retailers and consumers." FMI is a member of the Merchants Payments Coalition.Subscribe / Renew to Supermarket News
